Timothy Hartwell to Share our Mother's Day Devotion

Spring has sprung, the weather is beautiful and everything is growing and mother nature is showing her true beauty. As we celebrate Mother Nature, let's not forget our Mother's this Sunday!

Also this Sunday, May 8, Timothy Hartwell, a staff memeber at Brethren Woods, and a new member of the Young Adult Group at First Church, will be sharing our devotion at 5@5 . Come share the evening in fellowship with one another, and hear Timbo's (yes, that's his nickname) message. 5@5 gathers every Sunday evening in the sanctuary at First Church beginning at 5:00pm.

We would also like to thank Ben Copper, Kyle Joines and Zack Allen for sharing their musical talents with us all year. Ben and Kyle are freshmen at James Madison University and Zack is a freshman at Spotswood High School, together they have been a wonderful addition to our music group. Thank you Ben, Kyle and Zack for joining our music team, and letting God use your talents, so that we could feel him moving in our worship!

May Schedule

5@5 will have a service every Sunday in May. On May 1, Micah Morris will be sharing our devotion. On May 8, Timbo, a staff member from Brethren Woods will be sharing our devotion and on Sunday, May 15, Justin Michael will be sharing our devotion.

Also on Sunday, May 1 we will be making Exam Baskets for our local college students. The baskets will be made following the 5@5 Service. To sign up to bring goodies, contacts Micah Morris or Heidi Bunn.

5@5 Summer Concerts Being Planned for 2011!
Once again this Summer, we will have our 5@5 Summer Concert Series. We will feature bands from around the area and will fellowship together each evening. The Summer Concerts will begin on Sunday, July 10. Watch for more details coming soon!

5@5 Tenebrae Service--Friday, April 22 7:00pm

Holy Week is so important in the life of the church, and Good Friday is a very important day, in which we, as Christians, remember that Jesus gave his life to set each of us free. This year, we will have a Good Friday Tenebrae Service at First Church of the Brethren. Beginning at 7:00pm on Friday, April 22, the 5@5 Group will be leading a Tenebrae Service in the sanctuary. The service will be a time of somber priase and remembering the price that Jesus paid for each of us and we will be leaving the church in darkness so that on Easter Sunday, the breams of light can radiate throughout our church and our hearts as we celebrate Easter Sunday. Everyone is invited to attend the Tenebrae Service, there will be time for scripture, time for meditation, time for prayer and time for worshipful singing. Plan to attend, and remember the special price that was paid, so that we would not have to carry the burden of sin by oursevles. The service will take place on Friday, April 22 beginning at 7:00pm.

Heidi Phillips will be sharing the 5@5 devotion this Sunday evening. Heidi joined First Church in 2010 and has become very involved including joining a small group and helping with 5@5 . We look forward to having Heidi share her devotion with us this Sunday (Feb. 20).

5@5 is an informal worship time to Celebrate God through singing, praying, teaching and fellowship. Plan to join us every Sunday evening from 5:00-6:00 in the sanctuary at First Church of the Brethren!
